My first session in the House of Representatives was lengthy and challenging, but I found success working across party lines to advance policy goals for our district and state. (see “Dave’s Legislative Accomplishments” for more information about my work in the 72nd Legislative Assembly).

Despite our successes, severe revenue shortfalls and ineffective House leadership placed too many children, seniors, workers, businesses, and other Oregonians at risk. I know we can do better in the future, and that’s why I’m running for re-election in House District 40.

We know many of Oregon’s problems could have been avoided if our elected officials had been thinking about the big picture years ago. Unfortunately they weren’t. Now we’re paying the price with huge class sizes, high unemployment, and a health care system that fails too many local families.

I understand that to get Oregon moving in the right direction again, we need to focus on the future. I am committed to looking at the big picture and making strategic investments to ensure we have vibrant, livable communities for our children and grandchildren.
