Legislative Accomplishments

During my first session in the Oregon House of Representatives, I was pleased to take a leading role working with moderate Republicans and Democrats to successfully:

	Expand children's health insurance coverage
	Pass a major road & bridge repair package to create construction jobs and improve freight mobility
	Establish a bulk prescription drug purchasing plan to lower costs for seniors and other consumers
	Pass my bill to advance equitable transportation funding for high-growth counties
	Increase seed money for Oregon start-up businesses
	Pass legislation through the House to increase sustainable timber harvest on state forest lands
	Set K-12 education funding that would have provided a full school year & reasonable class sizes
	Promote economic development as co-chair of the Bipartisan Growth Caucus
	Reform our land use system including development of more market-ready industrial lands
	Restore some health & human services for seniors, children and Oregonians with disabilities and mental illness
	Initiate "double majority" election reform
	Protect Oregon’s affordable and effective workers’ compensation system
	Restore school-based health clinics to keep students healthy and in class
	Protect funding for Willamette Valley trains, Tri-Met & channel deepening
	Reform state business regulations and streamline permits
	Help needy families and seniors by sponsoring and passing hunger relief legislation
	Fight for community college facilities construction to aid students and business partnerships
	Introduce religious freedom restoration legislation to protect the free exercise of religion
	Advocate to redirect the "kicker" into a real rainy day fund to prevent future program cuts or tax increases
