Dave Hunt Announces Clackamas County Outreach Plan

Tuesday, November 8, 2011

Clackamas County Chair candidate Dave Hunt announced today that he will hold Town Meetings in every Clackamas County city and community, every year to improve communication between county residents and their elected officials.

“Our current Clackamas County commission leaders are too isolated from the citizens they represent,” said Hunt.  “They require citizens to drive to Oregon City on Thursday mornings to share their concerns.  That time and location is not accessible or convenient for the vast majority of Clackamas County citizens.  As Clackamas County Chair, I will reach out to every city and every community, every year.”

“Town Meetings are one of the best ways to hear directly from and communicate with constituents,” said Hunt.  “During the dozens of Town Meetings that I’ve hosted, I have received many excellent ideas for new state laws – creating a one-stop shop for small businesses, funding critical transportation projects, fighting California sea lions in our rivers, etc.  I’ve also received vital feedback about policy and budget options.”

“If elected Clackamas County Chair, I will hold Town Meetings in every city and every community, every year,” Hunt announced.  “And I will encourage my fellow commissioners to join me in meeting with Clackamas County citizens at times and places that are more convenient and accessible.”

Hunt said he will begin his “every city and every community, every year” Town Meetings immediately.  “A year is too long to wait to start engaging Clackamas County citizens.  As part of my campaign for County Chair, I will hold Town Meetings in every city and every community during this coming year.”

“We need a County Chair who will listen and then lead to get our county back on track, back to work, and moving forward again,” Hunt said.

As Oregon House Speaker and Majority Leader, Hunt implemented new rules increasing public notice before committee hearings and added more field hearings to ensure greater citizen participation in the legislative process.  He also hosted dozens of evening and weekend Town Meetings with his constituents.

Hunt announced that he has already confirmed the first three Town Meetings:

  • Monday, November 21st @ 6:30 pm: Rose Villa, 13505 SE River Road, Oak Grove 97222
  • Wednesday, December 7th @ 6:30 pm: Estacada Public Library, 825 NW Wade Street, Estacada 97023
  • Monday, December 12th @ 6:30 pm: Molalla Public Library, 201 East 5th Street, Molalla 97038

Additional Town Meetings will be announced soon for every city and every community during the coming year.  For more information, contact info@electdavehunt.com or 503-650-9434.
